Growing Our Region

NZ AgriFood Week 2020

New Zealand AgriFood Week 2020 is almost upon us. Brought to you by CEDA, this year focuses on New Zealand’s agrifood reputation in our communities, with discussion on what our local consumers feel and think of the sector.
Key events include ASB Perspective 2025, where six female leaders, nationally and globally renowned for their work and contribution to the primary industries and food value chain, will gather to answer the question;

We’ve successfully sold ‘brand New Zealand’ to the world – now how can we practically bring it home to enhance our sector’s future?

Also of interest is AgResearch presents: Our Food. Our Future. This event looks at New Zealand’s agrifood role in the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Internationally and nationally recognised speakers will come together to challenge and debate via keynote addresses and panel-style discussions.

Accelerate25 will again be sponsoring the AgTech Hackathon – connecting tech talent to the primary industries. Teams work with primary sector representatives and mentors to solve set challenges over a short period of time. It’s action packed and inspiring!

Meanwhile Tararua District Council will be hosting a Land Use Diversification Forum where AgFirst HB Consulting Ltd will present their Alternative Land Use report. The discussion will look at the likes of feijoas, cider apples, hazelnuts and blueberries as alternative sources of income for farmers.

If you haven’t booked your tickets to any of these events yet, there is still time. Visit www.nzagrifoodweek.co.nz to find out more.
