Growing Our Region

Horowhenua Taste Trail back for 2018

Horowhenua’s tastiest event will again be showcasing some of the district’s specialist food producers on November 24 this year. The Horowhenua Taste Trail is a unique experience as producers open their doors, providing the opportunity to experience a paddock to plate journey.
The Taste Trail is so relevant and important to the economy in our region as the local food sector does not just contribute to the local economy, it is also one of the major contributors to the domestic, national and international markets. The market garden industry in particular brings more than $100 million to the region and is a primary source of employment in the Horowhenua district.

As such, ‘fresh vegetables’ has been recognised in the Manawatū-Whanganui Economic Action Plan as one of the key opportunities to make our region prosperous, strong and vibrant.

The Taste Trail is a celebration of the produce our region, in particular the Horowhenua district has to offer. It’s a not to be missed event, catering to all ages and taste buds!
